Company History

In 1982 Ted Pither founded TFS Derby Ltd. to supply fasteners to the local construction business.  Seeing the need for a better masonry anchor, he introduced BLUE-TAP masonry anchors to the market.  This was followed by DRILL-TEC FFD case hardened, carbon steel self-drilling, self-tapping screws; NYLO-TEC Self Drilling Screws with Glass Reinforced Nylon Bi-Hexagonal Head available in a range of over 100 colors; DRILL-TEC FFD Extreme Stainless Steel Bi-Metal self-drilling screws,  Bimetal self drilling screws and TOP-CAP marine grade stainless steel fascia pins and nails. These product lines have set the standards in the UK and Europe.

With their own Quality Assessment Center, TFS Derby has ensured that these products meet or exceed all local and regional building standards. Each product has been tested and assessed to verify that they conform to design standards. Inspections and examinations throughout the manufacturing process verify that all fasteners meet high quality standards. This attention to quality made TFS Derby a leading supplier of screws and fasteners.

After successfully building this business into a thriving multi-million dollar company, Ted handed control over to his Managing Director and retired to South Florida in 2005.

South Florida construction presents unique demands. With corrosive salt air, hurricane force winds and temperature extremes, Ted has recognized the need for a better fastener system here too.

Drawing on his extensive experience with fasteners, Ted developed a fastener system especially for the demanding South Florida environment. Especially engineered for Florida Rooms, screen enclosures, patio rooms and pool enclosures, the PRO-TECT Fastener Protection System (patent pending) includes a clear nylon sleeve, washer and colored cap. The PRO-TECT System is available in a variety of colors to coordinate with the frame structure. The color cap is UV stabilized and is expected to give 15 years protection from the Floridian intense sun. The sleeve, washer and cap work together with the screw to prevent water and the corrosive minerals from entering the fasteners and destroying the integrity of your structure.

Ted, together with his son-in-law Beau Houde intend to bring the benefits of these products to the USA markets. Beau has grown up in the South Florida building trade. With experience in construction both here and in Europe, Fasteners Direct understands the demands of your business.
